1. Project Rationale
On March 12, 2021, Thien Phuoc Nhan Ai Shelter in Cu Chi, which cares for over 70 children with severe disabilities, faced a serious shortage of community support due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. In response to this urgent situation, YSD Organization launched a fundraising and resource mobilization project to support the shelter and called for greater community involvement.
With a mission to maximize impact for both beneficiaries and participants, SonTa Foundation decided to join the initiative, standing in solidarity with the compassionate efforts of young changemakers.
2. Activities and Implementation
The project was carried out through close collaboration between SonTa Foundation and YSD Organization:
-
Essential Supply Support: SonTa Foundation provided vital items, including:
-
On-Site Engagement: The Foundation’s Secretary, along with three volunteers, personally visited the shelter to deliver the supplies, meet with the caregivers, and spend time with the children.
3. Partners
This project was made possible through the cooperation of:
-
SonTa Foundation – Main donor and provider of volunteer support
-
YSD Organization – Project initiator and coordinator
-
Thien Phuoc Nhan Ai Shelter – Recipient of the aid and caretaker of the children
4. Results and Impact
The donation helped Thien Phuoc Shelter address a significant portion of its urgent needs for diapers and milk, ensuring better care for the children over an extended period.
Beyond material support, the activity offered meaningful hands-on experience for SonTa Foundation’s volunteers, deepening their understanding of their social roles and the impact of empathy-driven action.
5. Post-Project Outlook
Following the project, SonTa Foundation’s volunteers plan to produce a short awareness video to spread the spirit of volunteerism and call for greater support from youth and the broader community. The Foundation remains committed to launching similar community-oriented initiatives in the future, empowering young people to recognize and embrace their roles as active contributors to social change.
