Tanzania English School Update
by Egle Sakalauskaite
Our team is working hard and Tanzanian English school project is moving forward. We have successfully found the most suitable land in a rural area of Arusha, Tanzania. The school will be based in an area where there is a high population of young children, it is based near a local government school. The area is rural and the income of families living there is low as they depend mostly on agriculture sector.
We are very excited to get each step closer to making this project a reality, the school is in an excellent location meeting all our criteria as well as having a Mount Meru and Mount Kilimanjaro which is the highest mountain in Africa and the highest single free-standing mountain in the world. We know that the students and volunteers will benefit from their school being surrounded by beautiful nature and spectacular views.
By providing High Quality English lessons in this area we aim to help children progress to higher levels of education and work in other industries in the future especially tourism as it is a great industry to work in Tanzania as the best Safari in the world are based there.
We are currently in the stages of surveying and planning the land for the future school building so we have a complete understanding of the specific needs of the area. These steps are important so that STF can help the best to our ability and maximise our resources to help as many children learn English as possible. Come on a journey with us in Tanzania through the whole process and stay up to date through our social media @sontafoundation and website.
