Education matters for sustainable development. Therefore, along with equality in education, equity in education also needs to be noticed. Thanks to the fast growth of the economy, many developing countries can afford more inclusive education policies that provide people in every circumstance opportunity to access general education. However, the gap in the quality of education in society is still very large. The people in the remote and poor areas can study the same subject as the people in the city in general education, but without additional support, they lost their chance to compete with peers to gain opportunities to improve their life.
One of the main fields that SONTA Foundation wants to pursue is sustainable education. We believe that the people in difficult circumstances need to be supported to approach high-quality education such as others who have better living conditions. One of the subjects that could help them to expand chances to change their life is English. The cost to study English in language centers in cities or to hire tutors is not affordable to poor people. Thus, SONTA Foundation announces the project Free high-quality English course for people in difficult circumstances to contribute to handling the issue of equity in education.
Our team is now conducting visits in potential areas in Ho Chi Minh city, Kenya, and Tanzania. We prioritize children in every situation, hence, the first beneficiaries will be children in remote areas, children in the children's village, shelters. SONTA Foundation has begun to implement the beginning phase of the project. At this step, we aim to build a model of free high-quality class for children. We will keep updating the news on this project in the future.
