Throughout time, SonTa Foundation's free high-quality English class project has extend 3 more classes at Mai Tam orphanage, Green Bamboo orphanage and SOS children's village.
The class at Mai Tam shelter consists of 8 children aged from 5 to 7 who are studying at the kindergarten program at the shelter. English class with SonTa's Volunteers are from 9:00 am to 9:45 am every Wednesday and Friday. Right from the first lesson, we saw the love and interest in learning from students even though they are very young. The children's ability to acquire a new language is also very sensitive, so we hope that, through this weekly class, the children will have an environment to interact, play, and learn a new joy in their life.
The class at Green Bamboo Shelter consists of 9 children aged from 6 to 12 years old who are studying in grades 1 and 4. Due to the age difference, the arrangement and selection of curriculum for the children needs to be given great attention. Volunteers also prepared lesson plans and useful lessons for the class. The children are very obedient and respond positively to the method of teaching while learning while playing, sharing knowledge together in the closest way as brothers and sisters in the family.
The class at SOS Children's Village consists of 13 children who are in 3rd and 4th grade. We have supported the children to take an English ability test for class placement and selection of curricula, curriculum and teaching methods that are most suitable for children. With the same acquisition ability and English level, children can learn and develop languages together.
With the Covid-19 situation, SonTa Foundation's English classes are being temporarily suspended from teaching directly at institutions and switching to the form of preparing test and sending them to the shelters for children to do, then collect them for grading point. Hopefully the Covid-19 will soon be pushed back so that the Volunteers and the children can meet and have fun together.
